The Durban Thread Haul innovation

The Durban Thread Haul is an innovation with a fresh angle towards fashion. Its core philosophy as in any design practice is based on the element of creatively producing an art piece with beautiful and appreciably aesthetics using little resources. This is a fashion show produced not only to showcase silent talent existing within Durban but to also educate and expose the fashion scene happening in the city.
The creative soul behind the production of the event is Dooban production, a young graphics, branding and events management business with two years experience working with News cafés across KZN, hosting fashion shows that proved to be a success.
” When we proposed the fashion conceptualised events at News café, we were well received and given the opportunity to expose our clothing line through these fashion shows” Xolani Dlamini, the creative director recalls.”After a series of these events we had an understanding of how we can assist young designers with marketing, branding and increasing their clientele without them having to pay enormous amounts to branding companies.”
Dooban production approached Fashion TV lounge, positioned on one of Durban’s busiest night life scene, Florida road, with the Durban Thread Haul concept.”We had the concept drafted and finalised four months prior, we had other venues in mind before approaching Fashion TV because we had no idea when it might open, but we went to the construction site and enquired” Xolani said.
Fashion TV lounge received the proposal and were happy about the concept, what happened after was a string of brainstorming meetings, model castings, photo shoots and video production.
The fashion show features a photo shoot session after the catwalk, allowing the guest to experience the behind the scenes of producing fashion print advertisements. The pictures taken will be highlights of the young designers clothes showcased at the event and these pictures will be edited and sent to all the guests who attended the Durban Thread Haul via e-mail.
Another product extension from the Durban Thread Haul is the video diaries which will take the viewer into the studios of young fashion designers, interviews with organisations that assist the youth and other age groups in the design field, exploring and interviewing small retail outlets that exist within Durban city and stock local designer brands, the behind the scenes of the Durban thread haul production and we will be featuring some special appearances from local celebrities supporting the event.
Dooban production is also working on hosting the Durban Thread Haul POP UP SHOPS that will be mobile shops that will pop up at different locations within Durban every weekend, viewing and trading local designer clothing lines with a line up of great entertainment.”As youthful and creative as we are, we have to put aside the mentality of short cuts to riches and start focusing on building wealth on the things we are passionate about. Whatever venture you have in your head and would love to approach analyse it and work on it smartly, if its big you need to understand that it takes time to grow oak trees so you need to learn to be patient”. Xolani advices the youth.
The Durban Thread Haul is set to become an annual event, with its launch happening on the 23rd of December at Fashion TV lounge on Florida road from 8pm. Featuring the young designers labels Duke, Gravity, Tweed, DO and Dooban clothing and a screening of the video diaries trailer.
Tickets can be booked at Fashion TV lounge on Florida or SMS your name and surname to 0834764198 your ticket will be reserved for 3 days and can be collected at Fashion TV on Florida road within the 3 days period. We love Strellson

Strellson was founded in 1993 by fashion entrepreneurs Uwe and Jochen Holy. They rebranded the coat manufacturer Friedrich Straehl & Co. AG that they had acquired in 1984..Under CEO Reiner Pichler, Strellson was acclaimed by the German business press for its two-figure annual growth during the first ten years of the brand's existence.
In 2008, German member of parliament Cem Özdemir, dubbed "Germany's best-dressed politician" by Men's Health magazine, participated as a model in a Strellson advertising campaign. A hooded jacket made by Strellson caused headlines in the British press in 2008 because it included a Swiss Army-style knife attached by a chain in a pocket. As the sale of knives to minors is illegal in Britain, retailers were forced to withdraw the product.

H.O.V.A., gold bottles of that ace of spade
Why even fool with these other guys, they all stingy
All these dudes know how to say is gimme
Gimme some head, gimme some brain
Gimme your number, gimme your name
But if I get one night baby girl I swear
I'll make you tell these other dudes gimme got you here
I'll take you shopping, take long trips
I'll take the cork off, you can take sips
I'll take you there, take my time
Take you clothes off, I'll take off mine
Ma, show me what you got
Hovie in the spot tried to told you I was hot
Tell these other dudes it's a wrap
Get the fuck out the throne you clone, the King's back!
Y'all got less than 2 months to get y'all thing together
Good luck!

(Lyrics from Show me what you got)

Splittin' folks

“Yeah man, it was an amazing time and it came to an end,” West said. “One of the greatest things that she showed me was just to be a nicer person because she was so disconnected from the concept of celebrity when I first met her…A celebrity could be talking to people crazy and everyone’s used to it at the label like, ‘He’s wildin’ out. It doesn’t matter.’
“[Amber] be like, ‘What?! You just talked to your fans so crazy right now. I’m not even talking to you right now.’ … I grew from that. I think that was the greatest growth that I got from that experience…

“My goal in life is to really have an amazing woman and have a family, but I think I had to go through these different things to grow…That was a one-off…I’m not trying to dive into anything unless I really, really think that I can marry this person. I look at this person and I say, ‘This is how I want my daughter to be.’”

Birth of Eyefly magazine

MARCH 2010, Birth of Eyefly.

March was a month that inspired this material to come to reality, i've been working on my clothing line for 2 yrs, during the past 2 yrs i've met a lot of young people heading towards my direction. I have to admit that business is pretty when its an idea, but bring it to life...... and man oh! man you have an ugly situation, thats how it works though as long as a part of you enjoys the up & downs.

So with my clothing line business i learnt a lot that sparked up this concept for Eyefly Magazine. Developing a product for a market has always been what i want to do. Eyefly magazine is a product of the cool & the hip. We feature a lot of picture material based on fresh trends, celebrities, fashion etc.
